Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director of Marketing & Communications to support the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management and the Undergraduate Admissions leadership team. This position leads the development and implementation of a cohesive and differentiating communications and marketing strategy from concept to creation to delivery.. The Director will advance and execute marketing and communication tactics that serve to engage and enhance relationships with target audiences including future students, parents, counselors and other educators, as well as internal constituents. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Cultivates data-driven, high-impact and results-oriented marketing practices in order to enroll an increasingly high-achieving and diverse student body.
Ensures strategic planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that aligns with a (recently established) unique branding concept supported by market research and testing.
Assures that initiatives support and enhance enrollment goals, and are well-managed within the team's allotted budget.
Works closely and collaboratively with Recruitment & Enrollment and Applicant Services teams to put forth a coordinated Admissions strategy.
Leads the Marketing & Communication team of full-time, part-time, temporary and student staff, and exercises hire, fire and disciplinary authority when necessary.
Supervises direct reports and ensures their fair and appropriate management of team priorities including actively developing talent on the team.
Creates and executes a cohesive marketing and communications plan with a three-year outlook that drives and augments Admissions' ability to meet enrollment goals.
Uses current branding innovations and market trends to design tactics that set the institution apart in a positive and effective manner.
Drives an integrated, highly coordinated suite of digital and print communications that effectually speak to target sub-populations of interest, including in-state residents, out of state and international students, scholars, underrepresented groups, transfer students, etc.
Develops compelling and consistent messaging that appeals to key audiences.
Manages internal and external relationships with key academic units, student service departments, vendors and other partners.
Completes other work consistent with a basic understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the Undergraduate Admissions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field.
Also requires a minimum of five years' of directly related professional experience of increasing responsibility in marketing and/or communications.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and supervisory skills, and foster a collaborative and creative culture in a diverse environment.
Superior project management, multi-tasking and operational planning abilities.
Demonstrated ability to develop and use analytics in decision-making.
Exceptional understanding of how to effectively utilize contemporary content systems to enhance brand strategy required.
Master's degree preferred
8 to 10 years of experience in higher education or other non-profit setting.
