About the NGA Foundation: The NGA Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization affiliated with the National Grocers Association. The Foundation is focused on cultivating and training the next generation of grocery industry associates. The organization provides leadership and workforce development programs such as the Executive Leadership Development Program, webinars, online education, and certificate programs, providing NGA members and the public with industry innovative information they need to thrive, and give our future leaders the tools they need to succeed through student programming.
Description: The Director of the NGA Foundation will work together with the Executive Director to develop and execute a three-year strategic plan for the organization focused on fundraising and program development. Responsible for the oversight of fundraising initiatives (sponsorship, general giving campaigns, grants), education programs, foundation events, student programs, promotional opportunities and the day-to-day management of organization administration.
Serve as Foundation’s administrative staff liaison to the NGA Foundation Board of Regents and NGA senior executive team
Work with the ED on the creation of the NGA Foundation annual budget (P&L)
Oversee all Foundation governance, bylaws and compliance
Oversee all meetings, logistics and communication functions
Serve as Foundation spokesperson
Supervise of Foundation support staff
Responsible and accountable for all NGA Research & Education Foundation fundraising activities to support scholarships, education programs, research and other programs to meet/exceed annual and strategic goals
Develop and implement regular fundraising reporting vehicles
Explore and apply for potential grant opportunities
Supervise invoicing and collection processes
Conduct regular assessments of NGA Foundation Education/Event programs
Assist with the creation of a new education certification program
Evaluate all potential event and education program opportunities
In alignment with industry partners, provide oversight to NGA’s Online Training and Education Programs
University Program Engagement & Scholarships
Maintain active and engaged relationships with universities and related food retail and marketing programs with a goal of growing and improving the NGA University Coalition
Serve as primary Foundation liaison to the University Coalition
Provide program oversight and execution for the annual student case study competition held at our annual event, the NGA Show
Supervise the administration of the Foundation scholarship programs
Identify opportunities to grow scholarship programs
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization e.g., business, education, communications, meeting management, non-profit management or related field;
Six or more years of relevant experience preferably with a 501(c)3 organization;
Experience in grant writing strongly preferred;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrated interpersonal skills that inspire confidence, respect and trust;
Experience with non-profit volunteer leadership and administration;
Strong work ethic, attention to detail and able to work cooperatively in a small, team environment;
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets;
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment;
Able to travel
