DESCRIPTION The University of California San Diego is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Athletics Game Support/ Marketing Assistant. Triton Athletics has a proud tradition of academic and athletic excellence and sponsors 23 varsity sports. UC San Diego Athletics is reclassifying to NCAA Division I as a member of the Big West Conference. Triton Athletics won two of its last three and seventh overall California Collegiate Athletic Association Commissioner's Cups in 2017-18 and, placed among the top 10 in the nation in the Learfield Directors' Cup for the third straight year.
The incumbent will assist in all of department’s external areas but focused on creating creative assets, social media integration, fan engagement and grassroots marketing efforts for the intercollegiate athletics department. These duties are meant to enhance UC San Diego's mission to be the best athletic program and a leader in all facets. Organize & coordinate outreach efforts to connect with on and off campus groups.
Assist in the development and implementation of a grass roots sports marketing program in both on campus and throughout the local community. Create/design content for digital/website distribution as well as for use with social media campaigns. Create/support the development of marketing plans for assigned sports and initiatives. Work as part of the game day staff assisting in directing and orchestrating the game/event presentation (in-game promotions, etc.) to enhance the fan experience. Establish and cultivate relationships with the University community including students, campus groups, faculty, and staff in order to enhance good will and promote positive collaborative relationships. Will assist in the oversight of the marketing offices undergraduate student internship program. Update and development ancillary content for UCSDtritons.com as well as the athletic department’s social media accounts. Participate in organizational planning as well as additional staff meetings.

Prior experience in game operations, preferably in intercollegiate athletics
Proficiency in the use of basic computer programs relevant to job duties, including Adobe Creative Suite programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; willingness to engage with constituents, on and off campus and with individuals of all ages and of varying backgrounds.
Adaptable and quick thinking and Perform well under potentially stressful situations.
Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.

Triton teams have captured 30 national championships while 44 squads have finished as national runners-up and 49 others have achieved national third-place honors. All told, UC San Diego has won 251 national, regional and conference championships. UC San Diego student-athletes have won 138 individual national championships. A remarkable 1,309 Tritons have been named to All-America teams. UC San Diego student-athletes have excelled academically as well, earning 36 prestigious NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarships and 78 Academic All-America selections, including a program-high 10 over the 2015-16 campaign. Consistently, over 55 percent of student-athletes earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, placing them on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. In 2016-17, UC San Diego posted a fourth-place finish out of 266 Division II schools in the Learfield Directors' Cup, an award emblematic of the best overall athletics department in the country. Since moving to the NCAA Division II level for the 2000-01 academic year, UCSD has placed in the top seven programs in the country on 12 different occasions and finished second overall twice. UC San Diego won its seventh California Collegiate Athletic Association Commissioner's Cup title in 2017, an award symbolizing the best overall athletics department in the prestigious conference.
