A senior member of staff, the Vice President, Sales and Member Development will have primary responsibility for growing membership and membership engagement in association programs by developing and leading marketing and engagement strategies that position ASA as the leading organization serving the PHPC and PVF markets. In addition, this position will have the key focus of achieving annual growth metrics related to membership, product and event sales and fundraising initiatives; and develop and implement a system for obtaining market information and for measuring member/customer satisfaction for use in continuous improvement of the services delivered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and directs acquisition and retention activities to grow the membership and meet current and future member needs and annual growth objectives.
Directs customer service initiatives across the association to ensure strong member loyalty.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to assist in enhancing programs and services that shape the experience of and engagement with our members and customers.
Leverages data and member surveys to inform strategy development and measure component satisfaction and engagement.
Develop and implement an organization wide system for: capturing critical member contact information and demographics; and capturing member/staff communications (contact management system).
Develop annual member engagement plans designed to: increase participation in association events, utilization of Business Intelligence programs; increased participation in ASA advocacy initiatives.
Develop and implement annual sales plans designed to meet all ASA growth metrics related products, services and events delivered by ASA.
Develop and implement a plan that monitors member engagement as well as driving an annual member outreach effort to ensure association success and value among all member segments.
Marketing / ASA Brand
Lead an overall marketing and communication plan that positions ASA as the leading organization serving the PHPC and PVF marketplaces.
Ensure that all ASA collateral and communications are sufficient to ensure success of ASA’s mission as well as building the ASA brand.
Overall responsibility for the development and maintenance of the ASA website to ensure the website is of value to members and adequately promotes ASA and its mission.
Overall responsibility for developing and implementing a robust social media strategy.
Additional leadership responsibilities:
Leads various special strategic initiatives as assigned.
Develops and provides various reports and statistical analysis for initiatives and strategic objectives.
Collaborates as part of the ASA Senior Team on annual budgeting, strategic planning, select human resources issues, and thought leadership to achieve the organization’s strategic initiatives.
Identifies, evaluates, negotiates, and manages various contracts that align with the strategic direction of the association.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities for subordinate staff in accordance with ASA’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and managing department budgets.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or non-profit management
Minimum of five years of experience in successfully developing and implementing marketing and sales plans.
Minimum of five years of experience budgeting, strategic planning, and managing and leading a team.
Experience working in an association or non-profit is preferred.
Experience and education requirements may be satisfied with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Direct sales experience and a passion for selling in a membership association environment.
This leadership position requires excellent management capabilities; she or he must lead by example to implement and support management initiatives.
Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and proficiency in dealing with changing priorities.
Must be self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
A high level of creativity and ability to develop new and exciting tools for marketing and communicating to all stakeholder groups.
