Overview The marketing and project manager will work as a member of the University Marketing and Public Relations (UMPR) team. This position will be responsible for development and production of campus marketing and communication pieces. The manager will assist in development, execution, and analysis of UMD's brand marketing plan. This position works with individuals across campus to provide consultation and marketing support. This person will also assist in the management of marketing funds.
General Description This position will support institutional strategic priorities such as student recruitment and retention. The individual must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with exceptional attention to detail; prioritize and meet deadlines; build positive ongoing relationships; exercise independent judgment; work well in a team environment; and collaborate with a variety of individuals around campus. Position reports to the Director of University Marketing and Public Relations.
Specific Responsibilities 1) Coordinate and manage institutional brand marketing efforts - 60 percent
Assist with development and execution of strategic institutional marketing efforts.
Develop and implement marketing strategies for assigned projects.
Help to ensure targeted audiences are engaged and communicated to clearly.
Monitor and report on marketing analytic working towards continuous improvement.
Work with other campus marketing staff to integrate marketing plans and optimize resources.
Provide strategic direction to campus departments and units on marketing and branding initiatives, strategies, and issue resolution.
Create and edit marketing content for various mediums and audiences.
Assist with web content creation, editing, and management.
Initiate and evaluate emerging technology strategies for marketing or branding initiatives.
Direct execution of advertising, marketing campaigns, design, and related vendor negotiations.
Ensure compliance with brand standards and work to keep those standards updated and available to the campus community.
Adhere to the University of Minnesota system brand standards and communicate as needed with members of the University of Minnesota system marketing team.
Act as a member of the brand review team to review and provide feedback on marketing.
Pieces from various units across campus.
Build a network of engaged brand ambassadors across campus.
2) Coordinate and manage various campus communication projects -30 percent
Act as the primary project manager over publications and UMPR projects.
Develop, communicate, and manage status of projects and deadlines with appropriate staff.
Manage and facilitate proofing process.
Provide strategic input to ensure our communication efforts are engaging the target audience.
3) Other responsibilities as assigned - 10 percent
Supervise student employee(s) and ensure a meaningful learning experience.
Serve as an active member of the campus community, including serving on appropriate committees.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. BA/BS degree in communication, journalism, marketing, art or a related field or non-communication related degree with additional two years of professional communication experience. Four years of professional marketing and project management experience. Non-communication degreed individuals must have six years of progressive responsibility in marketing.
