The Sales and Marketing Manager's primary responsibility will be to work with senior management to maintain existing and cultivate new member relationships, as well as internal and external non-standard partnerships. Using a selection of web/app based programs to respond to users, track relationship milestones, and execute development campaigns, the incumbent will further strengthen relations with member organizations and their users as well as help develop strategies to attract new member organizations.
A secondary, but equally important aspect of the position will be the collaborative orchestration of Center communications. The Center leverages Cornell communications channels, high-profile media outlets, as well as other owned and earned media channels (social media, newsletters, email communications, etc.), providing audience-specific news. The Sales and Marketing Manager will be responsible for the organized execution of each communication generated by the Center, culling content from numerous members of the team, and adjusting the copy and timing to reflect the brand and engage the intended audience.
Additional responsibilities include supporting special events. The Roper Center at Cornell University and the Board of Directors each conducted a limited number of events on an annual basis. These events happen on-campus as well as off-site in cities such as Washington D.C. and New York City. The Sales and Marketing Manager will be play an important role in conducting the Roper Center at Cornell University events and in a supporting role for the Board's special events.
Bachelor's degree and/or 3-5 years of professional experience
Experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), website content administration (current CMS is Wordpress) and knowledge of SEO/SEM
Strong professional writing. Ability to write for multiple audiences
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent document management suite
Experience with email communications platforms such as MailChimp, Constant Contact, or other
Demonstrates effective listening skills; seeks to understand and be understood
Expresses thoughts clearly, both orally and in writing
Acknowledges the support and contributions of others, involving them as appropriate when outcomes will impact their work
Identifies opportunities in challenges and shows initiative to make changes.
Marketing or Communications degree and/or 5+ years of experience in marketing and/or sales
Experience with account management and working on a small team
Experience with Salesforce CRM, knowledge of referral marketing
Experience with Spanish language (reading and writing)
Moderate level of experience with Adobe Creative Cloud
Familiarity with Social Science/Public Opinion research and data analysis
Experience with digital advertising, PPC and retargeting
