FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTThe Department of Business Administration in the School of Business at Medgar Evers College CUNY invites applications for a tenure track position in Marketing at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning fall 2017.Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty three colleges within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Named for the late civil rights leader, Medgar Wiley Evers (1925-1963), the College's mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career-oriented undergraduate degree programs in the context of liberal education.The Department of Business Administration is the largest department in the School and among the largest in the College. The Department of Business Administration offers three popular degrees- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business, Associate of Science (A.S.) in Business and Bachelor of Professional Studies (B.P.S.). Courses offered by the department fall in the areas of Business, Management, Law and Marketing.The individual who fills the position will be required to teach courses in Marketing and Business. The stated mission of the department is to prepare students for professional careers. Thus, candidates must exhibit a strong commitment to teaching and have the ability to teach in the relevant areas using a variety of pedagogical strategies and approaches, including the effective use of technology as well as ability to interact with students in the classroom. Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.The department has a strong ethos of cooperation and teamwork. The individual hired should be willing and prepared to work closely and effectively with other faculty members. She/he will be required to actively participate in departmental activities, including curriculum development, committee work and mentoring.Finally, the department strongly encourages scholarly work. Candidates should have a research orientation in addition to being committed to teaching.QUALIFICATIONSPh.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent.
