The Content and Events Marketing Supervisor develops, edits and delivers content over multiple platforms, supervises student staff, consults and guides event marketing for university clients, and provides department assessment support. This is accomplished through original writing and editing, training and supervision of student staff, developing and maintaining working relationships with professionals and students across campus, a high level of public contact including media relations and coordination, and program evaluation and planning. This position works closely with other professional and student staff within the office to engage and involve CWU students in a wide variety of activities and opportunities outside the classroom, through the delivery of creative services.
CONTENT DEVELOPMENT, MARKETING & MEDIA RELATIONS - Develop and edit original written content for multiple platforms including publications, websites, social media and event promotions - Work with other department staff to develop new media content - Conduct and/or coordinate research and interviews - Proofread and edit copy created in house or submitted by clients - Oversee department social media content and guidelines - Maintain department websites - Maintain editorial guidelines for department and in alignment with university standards
MARKETING & MEDIA RELATIONS - Consult and guide clients on strategic marketing for events; work with other Publicity Center creative staff to determine feasibility of marketing goals - Establish and maintain relationships with on and off campus media professionals and organizations - Independently advise media of upcoming events, activities and student-focused news of interest through calendars, announcements, releases and features
SUPERVISION - Supervise and guide student content team. - Review and update position descriptions; interview, hire and train staff; assign and check work; evaluate performance and recommend or take actions as necessary - Independently determine priorities for staff tasks and duties to insure deadlines and goals are met - Identify, develop, propose and implement professional development opportunities for student staff; work with professional staff team to plan and facilitate workshops and trainings for all Publicity Center staff
ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING For areas of responsibility: - Evaluate and adjust program policies and procedures - Develop and administer program assessment tools that support department goals - Prepare and present reports, recommendations and new program initiatives
DEPARTMENT ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING Work with supervisor to: - Evaluate and adjust department policies and procedures - Prepare and present Publicity Center quadrennial S&A budget proposal and supplemental budget requests - Prepare and present Publicity Center services/trainings to clients
- Attend Publicity Center and department staff meetings - Schedule and lead student staff team meetings - Serve as Publicity Center representative on committees for major university events and other university committees as assigned
LEAD DUTIES - Assigns and checks work and provides training. May provide feedback to supervisor to assist with work assignments and job performance.
SUPERVISOR DUTIES - Actively engages in recruitment and hiring new employees; - Clearly defines performance expectations, ensure accountability, and provides ongoing informal feedback, coaching, and mentoring. Demonstrated experience in a communications field which includes news and feature writing, print and social media marketing, and media relations
Demonstrated knowledge of AP and Chicago writing styles
Experience with web and social media content management tools
Experience leading or mentoring staff
Experience researching, developing and implementing event marketing plans
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
Experience working with diverse groups and individuals
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite in a Mac environment
Experience developing print and online publications
Experience in writing and producing content for multiple platforms
Experience with digital advertising platforms
Experience in a higher education setting and knowledge of university policies and procedures

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule
$3287/month with periodic increases up to $4313/month
Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch)/ PSE Bargaining Unit 4
Work is performed in a busy office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to meet the physical demands of remaining at a desk/computer work station for prolonged periods of time, using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements. Some stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying or moving of objects and other movements may be required. Occasional evening or weekend work and travel may be required.
