The Director of Communications and Marketing (DCM) for the Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education (ICJE) is responsible for overseeing and executing all communications for the Center and its signature programs and new endeavors. The DCM will lead the rollout of the Center's brand strategy, and develop and execute a communications plan for the Center. In addition, the DCM is the primary generator of content and manages oversight of all content creation for the Center and its work across all platforms and channels.
This position reports to the Associate Director (AD) of the Ignatian Center for Education and is a senior staff position in the Center. The DCM works with all members of the ICJE staff in order to achieve communication goals, especially the Director of External Relations and the ICJE Executive Director (ED).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute a strategic communications plan for the Center
Define, develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive communications plan for the Center, working with ICJE staff and University Relations as necessary to identify key goals and target audiences.
Ensure successful implementation of ICJE branding standards across the Center and programs.
Develop and oversee metrics-based assessment of communications plan to ensure impact.
Manage all communications and marketing for all Center-led events and all signature programs.
Develop ICJE staff skills through appropriate communications training, coaching, and support.
Ensure signature collateral (brochures, etc.) are up to date and, if necessary, executes new design/redesign as needed, in alignment with the Center
With AD and ED, provide direction and support for Director of External Relations on issues related to ICJE communications.
Function as the principal liaison to the Office of Marketing and Communication to ensure Center branding is in compliance with university branding standards
2. Generate content and oversee content creation for the various Center's communications channels.
Advance the Center's Initiatives and goals through communication vehicles, identifying, writing, and editing materials for the Center and University's publications, including web pages, newsletters, donor communications, reports, web, and social media, etc.
Oversee content creation by ICJE staff, students, and affiliates while ensuring quality of execution across all channels.
Define, develop, implement, manage and effect strategies for Center web pages; develop and write content, supervise student web-developer to determine accuracy, functionality, clarity, and alignment with the Center's distinctive brand platform.
Serve as consultant and liaison regarding Center web matters for all internal and external constituents.
Serve as project manager for larger content production projects with the Office of Marketing and Communication and external vendors (video production, brochures and other publications etc.)
3. Direct the Center's Social Media channels
Develop content strategy for Center to maximize impact across social media channels.
Oversee content creation and ensure quality of execution across all channels for Center and programs.
4. Perform other duties as assigned in support of ICJE's mission.
Recommend initiatives and implement changes to improve quality and services.
Analyze causes of problems; develops and presents pathways for improving established processes.
Maintain contact with customers and solicits feedback for improved services.
Maximize productivity through use of appropriate tools, planned training and performance initiatives.
Research and develop resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
Prepare progress reports; inform supervisor of project status and deviation from goals. Ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
Prepare and submit reports as requested and required.
Develop and implement guidelines to support the functions of the unit.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree or higher preferred.
Bachelor's degree in the following areas desired: communication, journalism, marketing, business, non-profits, or related discipline.
5-6 years of marketing, media relations, communications or special events experience, preferably in a higher education environment.
First-hand experience of Jesuit education as a student, faculty/staff member, preferred.
