This individual works with the Executive Director to develop and execute all membership recruitment/retention, marketing and published plans and materials for the Association for Information Science & Technology, ensuring that these plans and materials relate to meeting goals in the following areas: membership retention and recruitment, sponsorship, external relations, publication and merchandise sales, website, social media, and vendor relations. This individual serves as the primary resource for developing messages and materials to market all ASIS&T programming including the Annual Meeting and IA Summit. This position requires traveling to industry events to promote the ASIS&T and its programs.
Is the lead staff person in charge of membership recruitment with responsibility for all membership retention and recruiting activities as well as oversight of all member service activities.
Develops and executes a member recruitment plan focusing on all categories of membership and designed to grow membership and dues revenue considerably each year.
Develops and executes a member retention plan focusing on all categories of membership and designed to sustain existing membership at 90+% each year.
Supervises the Member Services Specialist whose job it is to provide the highest levels of customer service to existing and potential members, with membership retention being the top priority.
Develops and executes a marketing and communications plan encompassing all activities and needs of ASIS&T that require support in this area, to include but not limited to meetings, publications, programs & services, prizes and awards, etc.
Develops professional, comprehensive and effective print and/or electronic marketing and communications vehicles, to include brochures, press releases, annual report, meeting programs, articles, presentations, proposals, etc.
Develops and executes sponsorship solicitations for Annual Meeting, the IA Summit, RDAP, DCMI, The Bulletin, the ASIS&T Website, and other opportunities as appropriate. Works to develop relationships with potential sponsors throughout the year.
Manages the development and delivery of JASIS&T & the Bulletin.
Produces the InsideASIS&T monthly newsletter.
Serves as liaison to the ASIS&T Publications Committee working with committee members to increase the ASIS&T publications library.
Educates ASIS&T staff on the value of ASIS&T products, services, and member benefits.
Maintains and conducts regular review of the ASIS&T website to ensure that it fulfills marketing goals and objectives.
Manages all outsourced contracts for printing, marketing and publication production.
Membership retention at not less than 90%

Prior marketing and business development experience required
Outstanding writing, editing and layout skills
Ability to utilize computer applications including general database management and Microsoft Office use and proficiency with database and spreadsheet manipulation for mail merges, charts, and graphs.
Proficiency using the Adobe Creative Suite
Proficiency using WordPress
Be a self-starter as well as an independent and creative thinker with a focus on details and the ability to initiate and complete projects independently.
Must be able to travel up to 20 days per year
Bachelors degree required
